Professional Biography


Rand Manasse is an experienced C-Suite Executive and management advisor to senior executives across a wide spectrum of industries. He is known and respected as an expert on helping companies to turnaround and manage under performing enterprises by bridging all aspects of business operations including finance, operations and technology to increase revenue, market share, financial stability and efficiency.  Utilizing a strong understanding of technology, Rand effects improvement of all aspects of business processes and reporting.      Rand founded his consulting company, Reference Systems, Inc., thirty years ago. Some of the Fortune companies that have retained Rand’ services include the Metropolitan Transit Authority, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Marvel Entertainment, Brooks Brothers, Readers Digest, Gartner Group, Pitney Bowes, NBC Sports, PepsiCo, Guinness, Nestle, Arby’s, Church Pension Group, Trian Fund Management and Zweig-Dimenna Associates.    After beginning his career with IBM and Data General Corporation, Rand recognized the evolving revolution in the application of technology. In 1980 he founded Reference Systems, Inc. to bring computing to companies to automate their operations. Rand also saw the need to provide inexpensive computer processing to small companies unable to invest in major computer hardware, and created Rent-a-Byte as a subsidiary of Reference systems.    Over the last fifteen years, Rand has focused his company on resolving complex integrated technical, financial and operational situations within client companies in need of a turnaround to achieve their business goals. This is achieved by analyzing and evaluating the current environment, diagnosing the problems to recommend solutions, and initiating action to achieve success. Rand has implemented over 300 accounting, distribution and manufacturing systems such as:   Ø  As interim COO for a publisher, turned around multi-million dollar losses and initiated strategic business plans for future growth. Ø  Provided subject matter expertise to Brooks Brothers on automating cost controls for manufacturing.Ø  Successfully led the addition of 3000+ new clients within 24 months for a church insurance agency to expand into a new market. Ø  Facilitated the visioning and development of products to diversify a technology hardware / services company into the software development arena resulting in four nationally sold software titles. Ø  Provided subject matter expertise to the MTA on software to re-manufacture rolling stock.  Rand’s academic background includes a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University. Rand is also a member of The Project Management Institute, The Turnaround Management Association, The Institute of Management Consultants USA and The Association of Corporate Growth.
